If you're looking to start a business and sell on Amazon, then you might be worried about what kind of product will work. Will it be profitable? Will it generate sales? Well, today's blog post is going to address some common mistakes people make when choosing their first product.

Importance of Choosing the Right Product

If you’re a beginner in the FBA business, you need to understand the importance of choosing the right product, to begin with. Unless you have unlimited money to waste, your decision should be calculated and thought through. Here are 5 steps to follow when choosing your first and successful product to sell.

1.    Research Amazon's Best-Selling Products

If you’re planning on being an Amazon seller, then you need to know you’ll be competing with other sellers who are also selling products in the same category. To make a profit on Amazon, you need to have the best product to sell.

When you’re just getting started, it can be very hard to know what to sell. It’s important to remember that you don’t have to start at the top of the market. You can experiment with different products and find the right one to sell.

Amazon is a great resource for learning about the products your customers are searching for. Just head to the Amazon Best Sellers page and you’ll be able to see the best-selling products across every category. This is a great place to start when you’re looking for inspiration for your next product launch.

Characteristics of Good Product to Sell

When you’re looking to launch a new product on Amazon, one of the most important things to do is to research what’s already selling well. You want to see what’s the best-selling category on Amazon and then look at what’s the best-selling product in that category.

The best products to sell on Amazon all have a few things in common: they’re highly rated, competitively priced, and have a history of customer reviews. Make sure you’re doing your research and finding the best products to sell on Amazon before you begin.

It’s important to remember that it’s never a bad idea to sell products that you like and use yourself!

2.    Find a Product That is in High Demand and Has Low Competition

A great to find great products to sell is to research Amazon’s best-selling items. Amazon’s best-selling list is based on data from real customers. This means that if a product is being bought and enjoyed by customers, then it’s going to be a good product to sell.

Find a product that is in high demand and has low competition. This is often the recipe for success in any business--find something that people want and that other people aren’t providing.

However, it is not a matter of a single check. Once you decide to try out few articles that match the characteristics we described above, it’s time to be consistent. See how your chosen products are doing in few weeks. That was you can be sure that you’re aiming for an actual niche and not just some temporary problem with a lower supply for highly demanded products.

3.    Find Out if the Product Can Be Fulfilled by Amazon or on Your Own

Before you start any project, you should find out whether the product can be fulfilled by Amazon or if you need to fulfill it yourself. If it can be fulfilled by Amazon, you need to make sure that it’s compliant with their rules and regulations, and that it’s priced competitively. If it’s a product that can’t be fulfilled by Amazon and you’ll have to ship it from China, then you’ll have to set up shipping to Amazon and a product page.

If you fulfill the product yourself then that means you need to store the product, ship the product, deal with any returns from customers, and deal with customer service. That’s why it’s much better if you find a product that matches Amazon's rules and can be fulfilled by them. Extra costs that you’ll need to pay are worth it- not having to deal with shipping, storage and returns leave you with lots of time to develop and improve your products.

Remember- if in the end, you opt for FBM, you will still have to stick to Amazon's strict rules of delivery time to the customer. If you fail to deliver your package within the time that they require you to, you might even get your account suspended. Amazon cares the most about their customers, to the point when they’re willing to lose money just to satisfy their customers. In that case, it’s much easier and safer for you as a seller to leave the shipping process to Amazon.

4.    Make Sure You Have Enough Inventory to Meet Customer Demands

One of the most crucial aspects of being a successful business is having enough inventory on hand. It’s best to have enough inventory on hand to meet customer demands. Amazon is a great way to scale your business. By selling on Amazon, you can reach more customers than you could in a physical retail store. However, you need to make sure you have enough inventory to backup your sales. If you don’t have enough inventory, you can get in trouble with Amazon because they may suspend your account.

You don’t want to end up in a situation where you don’t have enough inventory to meet customer demand because that could lead to an angry customer and a bad brand review. You can’t sell on Amazon FBA without having enough inventory. Keep in mind that it takes time for an item to get from your warehouse to a customer’s door. Don’t expect to be able to sell on Amazon FBA if you only have one or two items in stock.

But balance is as important- too few products in stock make your customers angry, too much will raise your storage costs in the Amazon warehouse. Be sure to make good research in demand and act accordingly.

5.    Check for Any Patent Restrictions or Other Legal Issues Before Selling the Product

Make sure you do your research before going to market with your product. There may be some legal issues you need to work through before you can start selling your product. Make sure to check for any patent restrictions or other legal issues before you start selling your product.

If you’re selling on Amazon, you need to make sure that your product descriptions are compliant with Amazon’s policies. You need to make sure that you’re not using the product descriptions that have been used by other sellers on your product page, as this is a violation of Amazon’s policies.

- It is important to know that it is not allowed to sell weapons, drugs, alcohol, tobacco, or any other item that is illegal in the country where you are selling on Amazon.

- You are also not allowed to sell any counterfeit items.
